PGA450-Q1: PGA450-Q1:

Part Number: PGA450-Q1

Hello.

Can the ultrasonic circuit be placed away from the transducer using shielded wire.

If the answer is yes, what is the recommended maximum distance?

               Thanks

  • Hi Michael,
A twisted pair or shielded wire can be used to place the transducer further away from the ultrasonic IC. The maximum length limit is based on the transducer excitation voltage-current rating, and the capacitance per meter of the cabling itself. However, the longer the cabling, the more susceptible the transducer is to ambient noise; thereby, reducing the maximum possible detectable range.

I have tested non-shielded, non-twisted, 22AWG transducer wire up to 1m to find negligible impacts on overall performance (of the Murata MA58MF14-7N); thus, twisted and/or shielded should yield even more reliable results at 1m.
