TDC7201: Measuring recommendation with mode 1

Guru 16770 points
Part Number: TDC7201

Hi

According to the SNAA292 application report, measurement mode 1 is recommended fro measuring shorter time duration of <500ns but it is shown as < 2000ns on the datasheet.

Is it typo?

Is the datasheet correct?

BestRegards

  • Hello,

Both are correct. The TDC7201 is capable of measuring up to 2000ns in mode 1, but it is not recommended to do so. Mode 1 uses the internal ring oscillator only, and after about 500ns the heat buildup begins to decrease the accuracy. So, while it can measure up to 2000ns, it is only recommended to use it for measurements up to 500ns.

    Regards,
