Hi Experts,

I would like to know an easy way to retrieve the range data through SPI. ( UART would be OK. )
If an example software which can measure the range by FFT and then output to SPI with our specified format.

Hello,

The Mmw demo in the Mmwave SDK provides an example of using UART for data transmission. The Level Sensing Demo (search for TIDEP-0091 on ti.com) provides an example of sending range data from IWR1443 via SPI. The software for that demo can be found here:

We have checked the demo but it seems only for IWR1443BOOST.
We would like the example with IWR1642.

TIDEP-0091 is truly useful tool for us.
We would very appreciate if the same solution could work with IWR1642BOOST.

Hi Experts,
Could you please let us know the meaning of the range data which is retrieve on terminal by UART.
There are 3 range data. However, I was not able to find the description of them.

In addition, we would very appreciate if TI could develop this application note with IWR1642.

The level sense demo outputs the first three distances without regard to angle. The "power_sqr" values are unitless indicators of peak strength. They are the sum of the I/Q values squared for both chirps.

There is no current plan to port the demo to IWR1642, as the IWR1443 is better suited for minimalistic power requirements. The demo is a good example of how to integrate the SPI driver however, which should not be too difficult for an enterprising engineer.
