LM35: LM35DT sensing range

Part Number: LM35

Could you please clarify the temperature sensing range for the LM35DT (TO-220 package)?

Datasheet seems to indicate that all LM35s are up to 150C but then in section 6.3 of datasheet states up to 100C for LM35DT.

Also: Digikey lists range peak to 100C, but Mouser says 150C

The recommended operating temperature specified in 6.3 is correct.

Hi Kelvin,
Thanks for the answer. I will take that to mean that the upper temperature sensing limit is 100C for the LM35DT.
Is that what you mean by 'operating temperature'?

Thank you for that...

I have a followup: If we did use it past the 100C limit, would that damage the device? And/or would sensing go non-linear, read too high, etc.? What behavior might we expect?

It will probably won't damage the device but the accuracy will suffer. Again, if you go beyond the datasheet specs there is no guarantee it will be reliable.
