AWR1243: ASIL-B certificate

Part Number: AWR1243
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1642,

Hi,

The datasheet claim that AWR1243 and AWR1642 are "ASIL B Capable".

How about the ASIL-B certification for these two devices? (From TUV, Exida...etc)

I guess these two devices are not yet "certified", could you confirm it?

If it's not certified, what is the certified plan later?

  • Hello James,
The AWR devices are developed keeping in mind the ASIL B requirements (ISO 26262) , but the final certification needs to be done at the end product level with the customer application. We cannot certify our device alone.

    Vivek
  • Hi Vivek,

ISO 26262 has SEooC (Safety Element out of Context) concept and that's why TI Hercules has ASIL-D and TDA has ASIL-A certification from external party.

According to your feedback, TI won't execute the same flow like TDA (even it only applies to ASIL-A) and need customer to implement SW to achieve ASIL-B from system level.

    Is my understanding correct?

  • Hello James,
That is right, we are not planning to get external ASIL certification for the AWR devices. But the complete process and development flow followed are ASIL compliant and will allow for the ASIL-B certification of the customer product.

    Regards,
    Vivek
