Hi chanpion,
My customer want to test the phase noise at a specific frequency, They want to know how to configure the chip to transmit a single tone singal at a specific frequency.

Hello Adam,
In case of AWR1243 they can use Radar Studio tool , there is an option for continuous Stream. This transmits a CW at a fixed frequency.

Would it also be possible to do the same on IWR1443/1642 using a ramp slope of 0 in the mmwdemo?

Hello Francois,
It not recommended to use the slope 0. The SDK would support the continuous stream mode in the next release and that can be used for 1443 and 1642 devices.

Hello vivek,
I tested the continuous mode in Radar studio, and it confused with some concept. Could you help to clarify it?
1. What is the meaning of captued ADC data in continuous mode? Is it still the captured ADC sampled IF signal from the reflected signal from objects?
2. This time we use single tone, not FMCW signal. How can we see an object in post-processing figure?

Hello Adam,
You are right, it is the same ADC sampled IF signal.
This mode is not intended to see objects and hence , as you pointed out, the objects would not be visible with a CW . This is mode can be used either for standalone TX testing (you dont look at the ADC data, just the TX RF output) or possible loopback testing where the CW from the TX output is fed back to the RX and you can see the spectrum for any spurs or noise floor. its only meant for debug and testing.

Hello Adam,
The loopback is done externally (by default) . So nothing to be done on radar studio, you just need to connect the TX output to RX input, usually done using wave guide connection.
