AWR1642BOOST: For 1024 ADC samples profile configuration, data is not capturing.

Part Number: AWR1642BOOST

Hi,

For Above profile configuration I'm unable to capture the data, but when I set ADC start time to 0.03, I'm able to capture the data, but data is not as good as when I capture with 256 ADC samples.

Please explain how it works.

Thanks,

Vinayak

  • Hello Vinayak,
Can you use finite number of frames instead of infinite? Like 10 or 20 frames for examples ?
When you mention the capture data is " not as good" what are you observing ? Also did you keep all the configurations exactly same and just change the number of samples from 1024 to 256?

    Regards,
    Vivek
  • Hi Vivek,
I will try with finite frames.
I changed frequency slope to 16MHz, sampling frequency = 12500, ADC start time=0.03uS, Ramp time = 90uS, Idle time = 10uS, ADC samples = 1024 rest of the things are same as default values, and I'm looking at Time Domain Plot, its not giving proper sine wave. And is ADC samples restricted 256 max?

    Thanks,
    Vinayak
  • Hello Vinayak,
There is no restriction of 256 samples, you can use 1024 samples.
So between the 256 and 1024 sample setting test you have kept ALL the settings same except the number of samples? This would mean you are reducing the sweep bandwidth by 1/4 in the case 256 samples since the sweep time is 1/4th now.
BTW, the time domain signal would depend on the objects in front of the sensor and may not look like a nice sin wave since there might be multiple objects reflecting back.

    Regards,
    Vivek
  • Hi Vivek,
I tried for 1024 samples, for below configuration. I'm getting a large spike data in time domain plot.
    Here is configuration .
    frequency slope to 64MHz, sampling frequency = 12500, ADC start time=0.03uS, Ramp time = 45uS, Idle time = 10uS, ADC samples = 1024.

    Thanks,
    Vinayak
  • Hello Vinayak,

Are you seeing the spike in the beginning of the chirp? You have the ADC start time kept to 0, so the synth and PA would not have settled , can you increase the ADC start time and check?

    Regards,

    Vivek

  • Hello Vinayak,
I also noticed that you have the ramp end time as 45usec. If you have 1024 samples with 12500 Ksps , this would mean the ramp end time has to be > 82usec. This configuration should have given an error, am I missing something here?

    regards,
    Vivek
  • Hi Vivek,
Yes, I'm seeing spike in the beginning of the chirp. I have also tried for the ADC start time to 6us.
  • Hi Vivek,
I din't get any error for the ramp end time, and i have also tried for this configuration,
I have changed the profile configuration to
    frequency slope to 32MHz, sampling frequency = 12500, ADC start time=6uS, Ramp time = 90uS, Idle time = 10uS, ADC samples = 1024.
I got same spike result for this configuration too.

    Thanks,
    Vinayak
  • Hello Vinayak,
Sorry for the delay on this thread. Do you have a snapshot of the spike you are seeing?

    regards,
    Vivek
