HDC1080: Confirmation of accuracy

Guru 16770 points
Part Number: HDC1080

Hi

Our customer is using HDC1080 in their application.
And they have question about the guaranteed accuracy.

They want to test the accuracy of humidity and temperature in their own set (after built as their design) and they want to confirm whether the set is OK or NG. This process would present in their manufacturing line.

So we have to confirm the following.

1.
What do you think of the cause of difference in accuracy except for the impact in any manufacturing process?

2.
How to gurantee whether the HDC1080 is defective unit or not, respect to the accuracy of temperature and humidity?

How can we judge it?

For example, is the accuracy of 2% in RH range (15% to 65%) at 30℃ guranteed?
If the accuracy is over 2% in same condition as above, does it indicate defectve unit?
(Because we are considering Figure 17 of datasheet)

BestRegards

  • Hi Nana,
All parameters in the data sheet are "typical", even the ones figure 17 with offset across high temp exposure.
The reason for differences could be various, exposure to high temp, dust contamination, etc. We recommend to become familiar with the manipulation and soldering guidelines documentation to avoid issues like those.
  • Hi Jose

    Thank you for your reply.

I understood the value on the datasheet is typical.

Then, could you please tell us about the information of the test data when shipping?

For example, Figure 2 shows RH accuracy vs RH with Ta=30 and Vdd=3V.
Was this typical value obtained from 1σ?

Could you please give us the max value of humidity accuracy if you characterized when shipping?
    I could see the max value of temperature accuracy as +/- 0.4℃ (5°C < TA< 60°C )

We have to explain the guaranteed value for accuracy to the customer

so that we make them judge the cause of error is up from IC or their design.

    BestRegards

  • Hi,
as already reported in your previous post:

    e2e.ti.com/.../606555

at the moment, we have not data available for the max value of the RH accuracy in the HDC1080, that can be shared with the customers.
    Sorry for the inconvenience.
    Best regards,
    Carmine
