AWR1642: Profile reconfiguration doesn't take effect

Part Number: AWR1642

Hi,

My customer face one issue that the profile reconfiguration doesn't take effect. They call the rlSetProfileConfig to reconfigure the profile per frame without sensor stop and restart, they can guarantee the profile reconfiguration completion before next frame start. They use the spectrum analyzer to measure the IF signal from mixer, but find the signal doesn't change along with the profile reconfiguration.

Before they have tested chirp reconfiguration through calling rlSetChirpConfig also without sensor stop and restart, also using the same method to measure the IF signal which can change well along with the chirp reconfiguration.

So would u pls help check whether the profile can be reconfigured in this way? The test is based on mmw demo in sdk 1.0.

Thanks & BR,

Andy

  • Hello Andy,
Dynamic profile update is not supported by the device while Frame is ongoing. You can stop the frame and reconfigure your required profile then start the frame.

  • Jitendra,

Why chirp can be reconfigured without sensor stop, but profile cannot be reconfigured as this? Is it restricted by hardware or software?

Before we tried to do chirp reconfiguration in the flow sensor stop->chirp reconfiguration->sensor start, but the sensor can not restart well. Finally we just call rlSetChirpConfig to reconfigure the chirp on the fly. I will try rlSensorStop->rlSetProfileConfig->rlSensorStart to do profile reconfiguration, but base on my previous test I am afraid of it would be failed, and I am afraid of the reconfiguration time is too long as the customer need to do reconfiguration every frame. Have u ever test the profile reconfiguration, would u pls help suggest the detail flow with the relative API call?

    Really thanks and BR,
    Andy
  • Andy,
WRT to profile reconfiguration, calibration is being done during inter-frame time based on Profile-config-parameters so device doesn't allow profile configuration to change by the user while frame is ongoing.

Chirp-reconfig may work during inter-frame as those parameters are not used to do this calibration.
