AFE4405: duty cycle

Part Number: AFE4405

Hi,

I am going to apply a calibration code which will first work on AFE4405EVM board and then will be implemented on my own embedded board. I have questions regarding duty cycle:

1. Does the calibration code(included in the AFE4405EVM FW) work by controlling only the TX current and RX resistance(Rf) ? Or does it change also duty cycle ?

2. The EVM default value of the duty cycle is 1% at 100Hz sampling rate. It seems that the maximum value of the duty cycle is 10% for 100Hz sampling rate and the maximum of duty cycle increases when sampling rate is higher, say 500Hz. My question is : what is good value of duty cycle for 80Hz ~ 100Hz ? Is 1% good candidate as it is the default ? How about 3% ~ 5% ?

Regards,

Konan

  • Hi Konan,

I also good to have offset cancellation in the calibration routine. Usually duty cycle is not changed by the calibration.
Duty cycle should be choose so that the sampling width is sufficient. 3% or 5 % will work fine but do remember that increasing the duty cycle reduces the power down time thus increasing the power consumption. So it totally depends on the final system.
