AWR1642BOOST: Radar Studio with EVM alone?

Part Number: AWR1642BOOST

The EVM works very well over USB.  I'd like to use Radar Studio to guide my tour of the chirp parameter space.  Is there a standalone tool available?  I don't have a TSW1400.

Best regards,

Bob Licklider

  • Hello Bob,
If you are looking at changing the chirp configurations you could do that using a standalone EVM by using the config file in the mmw demo application. The SDK user guide , section 3.5, explains all the parameters in the configuration file and you could change those and load them back using the demo visualizer.

  • Hello, Vivek

That's what I'm doing, albeit using the capture demo. Since you mentioned it, will the demo visualizer plotter handle the entire chirp configuration space? I find it difficult, if not impossible, to program the visualization demo for something like 512 chirps/frame with an 80 MHz/usec slope and 16 MS/s digitization rate. I'm working that now with the capture demo. The data is much more pleasing, particularly when you window it before the FFT. Averaging chirps as a filter works way better than I expected - thank you for the suggestion in capture_demo.m.

This is why I'd appreciate Radar Studio. From your answer, it doesn't sound like it's available as a standalone tool. That's OK, I just wanted to know. Back to work!

    Best regards,
    Bob
  • Hello Bob,
I agree radar studio provides much more flexibility , but for that you would need a devpack and external LVDS capture card.
