MMWAVE-DEVPACK: FDTI Driver error for mmWave Devpack

Part Number: MMWAVE-DEVPACK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR1443

Hi

So Im having a driver issue when connecting the the mmWave devpack to the IWR1443 EVM- when I go into device manager and ask it to update driver and point it to the FDTI folder it gives me the following error

Ftdrivererror.pdf

  • Hello,

We have seen such issue typically resolved by uninstall/reinstall of driver.

Would you be able to try it on a different machine? Please mention the OS version and bit size.

Below are few tickets that discuss similar issue:

CCS/MMWAVE-DEVPACK: MMWave DevPack FTDI driver update

MMWAVE-DEVPACK: AR1XX FTDI Driver installation error

    Thank you,

    Vaibhav

  • Hi Vaibhav,

I'm not sure how to just uninstall the driver and reinstall it?

The computer is running Windows 10 and is 64 bit

Ideally we need the device working from this machine..I will look into trying on a different machine (is there a particular set of specs needed)..note the IWR1443 EVM runs fine off this machine.

About the other threads..I followed the steps and used the FTDI file provided by Kaushal and then still got the error message I posted.

When I looked at the properties for hardware ids I got the same as the poster on that thread.

    Thanks
  • Hi

So I tried uninstalling the device and redoing the process- same issue. Do I need to uninstall and reinstall the SDK?

    Thanks,

    CSJ

  • Hi

So I tried with a whole new machine, Windows 10, 64 Bit

I installed the SDK and the IWR1443 EVM works fine and I am able to run the demos.

For the Devpack however, I am still having the same issue- windows indicates that the driver is present but corrupted (see error message posted earlier)- I found that this might be an issue with the driver signing on the FTDI drivers- so I disabled driver signing in Windows 10 and was able to install the drivers- at this point the EVM ports show up as USB ports- this issue was discussed in the thread

CCS/MMWAVE-DEVPACK: MMWave DevPack FTDI driver update

However, the poster in that thread was told that after the ports show up as USB ports they need to update the driver again for them to show up as COM ports. When I try to do this it tells me that the Driver is already updated- so they still do not show up as COM ports.

    How should I proceed?

    Thanks,

    CSJ

  • Hi CSJ,

Can you update if this issue was resolved. Let us know if you are facing any issue with DevPack connection.

    Regards,
    Kaushal
  • Hi,

No, the issue is still not resolved- I have tried a few Windows 10, 64 bit machines at this point (do not have access to a Windows 7 Machine at work -IT Policy).

In order to get the drivers to install I still have to disable windows driver signing- but after that they still show up as USB ports not COM ports- if I try to update again it typically crashes the computer.

    Best,
    CSJ
