Do we have a means to do this without using the capture board? i.e. a Matlab example/GUI like Radar Studio that takes in data from the launchpad directly over USB? Some way to visualize the same web demo, but in Matlab?

Hi Lina,

It depends on what data you are looking to receive. The Radar Studio approach I mentioned earlier is used to capture raw ADC data. Currently, there is no way to send this data directly over UART. 

Now if you are talking about the data that is sent in the mmw demo that is used with the web mmWave Demo Visualizer, then yes you can read and visualize this data in different ways. As a matter of fact, that is what 3 of our demos do: 

• Drone Altitude
• Traffic Monitoring (not to be confused with Traffic Monitoring TI Design)
• Intelligent Lighting and Factory Automation

These demos are essentially just different MATLAB GUIs that read the same data structure used for the web visualizer over UART and display it in a different way. Some knowledge of that packet structure is needed in order to understand exactly how the data is being read, and we are currently putting together a detailed document that will describe the full data structure.
