TMP007AIYZFT

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMP006
Hello,

I received this email from DigiKey, advising me that the TMP007AIYZFT shall be going obsolete.

I've tried to check the device on TI's website but the product page appears to be down / missing / removed.

Can anybody shed any light on this? Is it just a package type that's being obsolete or is the product that is going obsolete?

Can't get any info
  • The TMP006 and TMP007 IR temperature sensors are no longer recommended for new design. This means their status has officially changed from 'Active' to 'NRND.' TI products with an NRND status may eventually be discontinued. This affects all versions of the infrared thermopile produced by TI.

There are some issues right now with the TMP007 landing page, but you can see the NRND status listed on the TMP006 landing page. I apologize for any inconvenience.

  • Thanks for the reply.

I'm speechless that TI would pull these parts after a few years.

Are there any replacements or equivalents?

    Thanks
  • We don't have another non-contact temperature sensor product. I would be happy to assist you with contact temperature sensors.

  • Thanks Ren, unfortunately it's a non-contact product I've developed and the TMP007 was at the heart of it.
It's bitterly disappointing. I worked for TI in Dallas years ago and to obsolete a device that had only been in the market for a few years was unheard of.
I'll continue with the current production run of TMP007s and redesign for an alternative manufacturer's sensor for future products.
I don't suppose (one TIer to one ex-TIer) you could give me any insight as to why the decision was made?
The TMP007 definitely had a better proposition than the competition so I can only assume that there were other issues - do you know if any other semiconductor manufacturer is interested in picking-up the device?
  • We have made a difficult business decision, Joe. That's all I can say at this time.

  • Hi Ren,

The company I am working for is in the same situation.

When is last time buy going to be?
