Hi Prashant,
Angle of arrival estimation is based on MIMO Radar. Essentially, the reflected signal is received at multiple antennas and by comparing the difference in phase (due to the spatial separation of the antennas) across antennas, we can estimate the angle of arrival.
The xWR1443 has 3 TX and 4 RX antennas and you will notice that one of the TX antennas on the EVM is at a higher elevation wrt to the other transmit antennas. This forms an antenna array in elevation direction as well and allows the elevation angle determination on the xWR1443 EVM.
The Elevation FOV (Field of View) on the 1443 EVM is 15 degrees in either direction i.e. the total elevation FOV on the EVM is 30 degrees. This means that you can determine the Elevation angle of an object in a field of view of 30 degrees (15 degrees in either direction). Please note that the FOV (both Azimuth and Elevation) is a function of Antenna Design.
The mmWave SDK Out of Box Demo (along with the mmWave Demo Visualizer) for the xWR1443 lets you view objects in 3D using angle estimation from both Azimuth and Elevation directions.
For a more comprehensive treatment on Angle Estimation, please refer to the MIMO Radar App note.

Hi, Nitin
Thanks for sharing information.
Can you also help me in (context to Object Height/elevation Measurement ) how the Antenna Pattern can be visualized? Any help on that.
Hi Prashant,
Please look at the MIMO Radar App Note. Sections 3 explains the concept of MIMO Radar and also also talks about 2 dimensional MIMO array with Azimuth and Elevation estimation capability.
