AWR1243: How to connet some pins on AWR1243 to the lines on the board without mismatch of impedances

Part Number: AWR1243

Hello,

I want to know how to connect the pins on the AWR1243 chip to lines on the board without mismatch of impedances.

(The AWR1243 chip is mounted on the board.)

The pin's names are "FM_CW_CLKOUT" and "FM_CW_SYNCIN2", which are ports of the signals at a frequency of ~20GHz.

Could you give me the information for the connection without mismatching such as a line impedance on the board?

Thank you.

  • Hello,
You can use the coplanar strip in layer 1 of the PCB to route the "FM_CW_CLKOUT" and "FM_CW_SYNCIN2" signals for 50 ohms impedance. If you use the stackup based on the AWR1243BOOST EVM you can refer to the stackup to achieve the 50 ohms impedance (7.08 mils trace thickness with 8 mils GND spacing on both the sides).
In order to reduce any impedance mismatch on the trace you should avoid any sharp bends on the path and or any discontinuty on the trace.

    Regards,
    Vivek
