TDC1000: About selection of transducer

Dear Expert.

I am considering TDC 1000 as a customer in charge for '' Liquid level detection '' application.
There are some unclear points in selecting the transducer.

Here, the resonance frequency value of the recommended transducer when liquid level detection is performed,
It is all 1 MHz.

However, in this method of use, if the remaining amount of liquid falls below about 10 mm to 20 mm
It is a rough usage method like issuing an alert · · · precise detection required There is none.

If a transducer of 1 MHz or less can be used,
There is an idea that you want to choose cheap ones with lower frequency.
I would like to teach with the recommended frequency or selection method.

    1. If your application does not require the resolution afforded by a 1Mhz transducer, you could certainly go with a lower frequency one. However, a lower frequency transducer is not necessarily less expensive than a higher frequency one. The main driving factor behind the price of the transducer will generally be its size. A larger transducer will cost more, but generally be more sensitive (output more acoustic power with a given input of electrical power). If your application does not require much precision or a large distance, then a small low frequency transducer could be right for you.

    2. It is not necessary that you attach the transducer exactly as described in the application note, but this is how we have seen the best results in our testing. The most important factor in mounting a transducer is getting good acoustic coupling between the transducer and the container. If it is not securely coupled, you will lose a large amount of the acoustic energy just in that interface between the transducer and the container which will make it nearly impossible to get good return echoes, or even recognize them against the noise floor. If you have more specific questions about attaching a transducer, I would suggest contacting the transducer manufacturer.
