OPT8241-CDK-EVM: OPT8241-CDK-EVM calibration qeustion

Part Number: OPT8241-CDK-EVM

Hi team,

The customer is using OPT8241-CDK-EVM.

Is the OPT8241-CDK-EVM  calibrated before it is shipped from the factory?

When the customer is using the profiles of the VoxelViewer to test OPT8241-CDK-EVM,

does he need to calibrate for the OPT8241-CDK-EVM?

If he needs to  calibrate for the OPT8241-CDK-EVM, how to  recalibrate the OPT8241-CDK-EVM?

Best Wishes,

  • OPT8241-CDK-EVM shipped from inventory are calibrated for lens distortion, common phase offset, pixelwise offset and temperature.  The results are saved to "MetrilusLongRange(HW)" and "MetrilusShortRange(HW)" profiles.

Calibration is sensitive to changes in parameters that can alter phase reading, so if these parameters are changed, calibration is no longer valid.  These parameters include, illumination power, frequency, and to less extent, integration duty cycle.

To recalibrate, follow the Voxel Viewer User Guide:  http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/sbou157/sbou157.pdf

    Starting from page 17.

  • Hi Larry,

Sorry, I still do not understand. I have two ideas as below:

    1. You mean if the illumination power, frequency, and to less extent, integration duty cycle are changed,

then the customer needs to recalibrate the parameters and follow the Voxel Viewer User Guide on page 17.

If  the illumination power, frequency, and to less extent, integration duty cycle are not changed, the customer does

    not need to recalibrate.

    2. Or you mean the customer must recalibrate the parameters and follow the Voxel Viewer User Guide on page 17.

During the calibration, the customer needs to ensure the illumination power, frequency, and to less extent, integration duty cycle are not changed.

    Which is correct?

  • Hi Larry,

Is there any suggestion? The customer is waiting for my reply.
  • Your (1) is correct. If customer changes any of these mentioned parameters, they will need to recalibrate. If they have to recalibrate, they should follow Voxel Viewer Guide starting on page 17.

  • Hi Larry,

Thanks for your help. I would like to know what the" to less extent" is? Would you explain more about this parameter?

I do not find this parameter in the datasheet.
