IWR1443: mmWave passive sensor

Part Number: IWR1443

Can a TI mmWave device be used as a passive sensor?

In applications targeting human body such as body scanner, the active method of irradiating radio waves is hated.

Best regards,

Daisuke

    Hello Daisuke,

No, the mmWave device cannot be used as a passive sensor. The device can work in the 76 or 77-81 GHz range. This may be acceptable depending on your local regulations.

  • Hi Amanda-san,

    Thank you for your reply.

I understand that the mmWave device has the ability to work as  a passive sensor but it depends on my local regulations whether it is accepted or not.

Unfortunately, the standard (ARIB) in Japan seems to accept only a radar application in the frequency range.

    Best regards,

    Daisuke
