HDC1010: Humidity data not representative of actual conditions

Hi,

I've a HDC1010 sensor on a PCB mounted as per the guidelines in the datasheet. Additionally, I've placed a small 0.9mm circular hole in the under side of the PCB , under the sensor to allow for free air circulation to the sensor. The humidity is somewhat fixed at ~37% while the actual reading from a calibrator is 55%. It doesn't alter much either when a burst of mist is directed at the sensor top or through the circular hole on the bottom side. The  Temperature sensor on the same DUT is quite accurate though.

Could someone advise any resolution steps if faced with this issue earlier.

    Based on the difference of the readings from your reference instrument (55%) and the readings from the HDC1010 device (37%) it points to a damaged or defective humidity sensor. The Humidity sensors handling and assembly need to follow very specific guidelines to avoid contamination or damage. Please review the following application notes:
