AWR1243: AWR1243

Part Number: AWR1243
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1443, , AWR1642

Hi,

I am working in a project to develop long rang ( 200 m) radar speed display

I need to know what is the suitable EVM (awr 1243or AWR1443 or AWR1643) for this application

Thank you,

Karim

  • Hello Karim,

The AWR1243 is intended to output raw ADC samples which is then post processed by external host/ data capture (TSW1400EVM) .AWR1243 is closed front end device and all the configurations happen via the API commands to the front end over SPI interface.

The AWR1443 has the hardware accelerators that do the processing of the ADC data .

The AWR1642 has the integrated DSP  for data processing.

Below is the link for the TI mmwave-sensing products and the comparison of the 3 devices.

Looking at your target application AWR1642 seems best fit.

    Thanks,

    Raghu

  • Hello Raghu,

    Thank you for your answer,

With Awr1643, Can I achieve the range Up to 200 m and velocity Up to 120km/h?

    Thank you

    Karim
  • Hi Karim,

The maximum range of the AWR1642 depends on a number of factors (some of which are external to the device) - the gain of the Rx, Tx antennas, the RCS of the target, the on-board losses, the noise figure etc. You may want to look up the 'Radar Equation' and try to fit in your requirements/constraints in that equation. This would let you generate the parameters that are necessary from the radar in your application.

You can then check to see if AWR1642 suits your purpose.

  • Hi Anil ,

    Thank you for your Answer,

I would like to use the antenna incorporated with EVM awr1643 ,

Is this antenna just for the short range or can I use it for medium and long range ?

    Thank you for your help

    Karim

  • Hi Karim,

AWR1642 EVM is meant for SRR (~80m) and USRR (20m) applications.

  • Hi Anil,

    Thank you for your Answer,

My last question, Can I increase the maximum velocity above 23kph ?

    Thank you

    Karim
