IWR1443BOOST: No Console Messages or Plots in Demo Visualizer

Part Number: IWR1443BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH

Hello-

We have the IWR1443BOOST and are trying to run the out of box demo on Windows 10. We get far, then see nothing in the Console Messages of the Visualizer when sending config.

Here is what I've done so far:

1. Install  mmwave_sdk_01_00_00_05

2. Install Uniflash 4.2.1

3. For the Visualizer, installed TI cloud agent and browser add-on in Chrome

4. Plugged in the EVM USB and confirmed COM7 and COM8 as UART and Data ports respectively

5. Successfully loaded the demo Image onto the EVM board (by way of manual selection/serial):

6.  Open mmWave Demo Visualizer and setup ports

7. In the Visualizer Configure screen: Set Platform to xWR14xx and SDK Version to 1.0 and leave rest as default. As you can see below, there at least appears to be a connection with the EVM, however it always says "waiting for data ...". After pressing the SEND CONFIG TO MMWAVE DEVICE button, all I see in the console window is nothing:

Also, I've tried the LOAD CONFIG FROM PC AND SEND with no luck either. I've tried a variety of reboots, powering down combos of the EVM, etc, with really no change. Is there other software I should have installed other than above? Any advice?

Thanks

  • Hello again Rickson,

    Apologies for the delay.

Are you still having this problem? This is very strange since it looks like you have done everything correctly.

Can you confirm Uniflash gave you a green-colored success message after flashing? (Step 5)

Does switching the COM ports in the Serial Port Configuration (Step 6) do anything?

    Cheers,

  • Hi Akash-

Yes I do get the green success message after Uniflash. I have also interchanged COM7 with COM8 in the setup if that's what you mean. For some reason it seems like it is so close, but it just sits idle in the end.

Is there something about the "waiting for data ..." message?

Is there a way to download the Demo Visualizer and run it from the PC?

    Thanks.

  • One detail I left out: I have the jumpers at SOP0 and SOP2.
  • Rickson,

There is not a way to do it offline as of right now. Would you try changing your SDK version from 1.0 to 1.1? Does that work? The latest SDK came out on Sunday so a fair bit of our problem might exist there..

  • Hi Rickson,

Are you saying you have both the SPO0 and SPO2 jumpers in place when running the demo visualizer? This would not work, SOP0 should always be in place, but SOP2 is to be in place for the flash programming only, then removed for normal use.

Also, there is an offline version of the demo visualizer if that's what you were asking. Please go to the Gallery on dev.ti.com (link), locate the mMWave Demo Visualizer tile, and click the download button at the bottom left of the tile. The Linux, Mac and Windows environments are supported.

    Regards,
    François.

  • Yes I coincidentally figured this out last night! Removing the SOP2 jumper was the issue. Everything works great now. Thanks for the help.
