AWR1642BOOST: What is the minimum setup/configuration needed to get started with the AWR1642?

Part Number: AWR1642BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1642, MMWAVE-SDK

For a TI customer:

I have some interest in the 76-81GHz automotive radar. I see TI has the AWR1642BOOST module, and it appears to also need the MMWAVE-DEVPACK to connect with it. Maybe some other kits also, I’m not sure. I would like is if someone can give me a feeling for how much effort it takes to get this up and going, and also to discuss my application to see if its and easy adaption of this dev kit. If so, I’d like to buy the kits to play with.

The primary application is distance measurement to all objects in a plane, to centimeter accuracy, within the range of 1 meter in front of the device.

  • Hello Mark,
AWR1642BOOST + MMWAVE-DEVPACK selection is good as a starting point for your evaluation. As the AWR1642 has an integrated DSP your customer can develop the algorithm and process the ADC data coming from the AWR1642 device .

The SDK required for the development in available MMWAVE-SDK. The MMWAVE-SDK includes the necessary demo application and sample code to get started and understand the system. The demos, drivers and application has detailed documentation for your understanding.

    Hope this information helps.

    Thanks,
    Raghu
