IWR1443BOOST: COM ports are blocked after disconnect

Part Number: IWR1443BOOST

I just started working with the IWR1443BOOST, playing around with the Demo Visualizer and figuring out the code.

I set up CCS to program the board, which works fine. When I run the Demo Visualizer I see the expected data and can change configurations.

But if I make a change in CCS and reprogram the board, I can't get the Demo Visualizer to work again. It says that it can't open the COM port.

The only solution until now seems to be clearing the COM ports in the Windows Registry.

The same situation occurs when i open the port in TeraTerm.

Does anybody have similar problems, or any idea what can cause this problem?

Thank you in advance!

Kind regards,

Koos

  • Hi Koos,

Can you please provide more details on what you change in CCS? Are you changing the code, recompiling and re-loading the .xer4f file? About the COM ports getting blocked, please ensure that you're following the below steps between program re-loads:

    1. Close the Target configuration in CCS.
    2. Power-cycle the mmWave EVM.
    3. Shutdown and restart TeraTerm. You need to re-select the COM port after restarting TeraTerm and you should be able to see the COM ports listed in TeraTerm at this time.
    4. Reconnect TeraTerm and reload the program in CCS.

  • Hi Koos,

Were you able to get this issues resolved?

    Thanks

  • Hi Nitin,

    Sorry for the late reply.

Your suggestion helped a lot. I was just changing minor things to get more insight in the software.

I have to say that it's still quite easy to mess up the ports. E.g. if I change between the Demo Visualizer and an example Matlab GUI the ports still get blocked.

But in CCS, just reloading one program works fine now.

    Thanks!

    Kind regards,

    Koos
