Hi Experts,

My customer is seeing slow Vital Signs GUI  and finally no response. It appears following thread is similar.
e2e.ti.com/.../2335691

Can you please help us how to solve the issue? My customer is using Windows 10. It is different from the thread though.

Best regards,
Ken

  • Ken,
You thread is passed to the team, we will get back to you asap.

  • Raghu,

I'm waiting for the forfeedback from the team. In the meanwhile, is Vital Signs GUI OS-dependent? As far as I check, it doesn't work correctly on Windows 10.

    Best regards,
    Ken

    Hello Ken,

I have been able to run the Vital Signs demo without issue on Windows 10.

Can you provide some more details as to what you mean my "doesn't work correctly"?

Are you not able to get the GUI to run at all or do you mean that the GUI is not updating with data in real time?

If it is the latter can you check the range profile plot in the bottom right of the GUI window? The response there should be nearly instantaneous. There is a lag in the breathing and heart rate plots due to the nature of the algorithm.

If it is the former if you have MATLAB I would suggest trying to open the .mlapp file included in same folder as the executable. You can the run the demo from there and should be able to see if there are compatibility issues.

    Best,

    Amanda

  • Hello Amanda,

Thank you for your reply. It is the latter.

First (~10 - 20 seconds), the update is instantaneous. Then the update gets slower (e.g. once a few seconds). Finally no update will happen on the GUI.

    Best regards,

    Ken

  • Hello Amanda,

Finally all graphs (including Range Profile) are not updated.

    Ken

    Hello Ken,

    - Do you have save data enabled or disabled?

    - Can you try running the GUI from MATLAB .mlapp file instead of .exe and see if you observe the same issues?

    Thanks,

    Amanda

  • Hello Amanda,

Yes. I can save data during no response from GUI. Regarding .mlapp file, I'm asking my customer to try.

    Best regards,

    Ken

  • Hello Amanda,

My customer doesn't have MATLAB. They can't try .mlapp file. What should they try next?

    Best regards,

    Hello Ken,

Based on your previous response, can you answer weather the issue is only observed while the "save data" option is enabled?

It is a known issue that the GUI doesn't update correctly if save data is enabled.

    I would recommend the following:

    1. Verify that disabling "save data" improves GUI performance by disabling the option.

    2.  If save data is required, try to improve performance by deselecting unnecessary plots. Disable the Range Profile plot after the "Refresh" button is pressed. (Refer to pg 27 of user guide for more details).

    3. Other option is do not save data via MATLAB but rather through a terminal to view COM port for more details please refer to this post e2e.ti.com/.../2318284

    Best,

    Amanda
