AWR1642BOOST: Can I get real-time data with TSW1400+AWR1642 with Radar Studio?

Part Number: AWR1642BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1642,

Hi,

I got the adc_data successfully with TSW1400 and AWR1642. You know that each time we get data will hit  button "TSW1400 ARM" and "Trigger frame" sequencelly.

Now, I want to get the real-time data so as to process by my matlab or python program to plot the range-doppler figure.

I don't know how to get the real-time data by Radar Studio, Can you help me?

Thanks!

Jinjun

  • Hello Jinjun,
Are you looking for streaming data acquisition and post processing ?

As of now we do not have any solution for streaming data acquisition and post processing .
We only have limited frame acquisition and post processing with the TSW1400EVM .

    Thanks,
    Raghu
  • Hi,
Can you give me some advance to solve this problem?

    Thanks a lot,
    Jinjun
  • Hi Jinjun,

Can you clarify if you want real time streaming? If so, there is no way to do this using Radar Studio.

You could write a matlab script to read the UART data while running the Out of Box demo if you are looking for a way to do real time processing in Matlab.

    Adrian
  • Hi,Adrian
    Thank you!

  • Hi guys, i have TSW1400EVM, MMWAVE DEVPACK and AWR1642BOOST connected together. Software triggering has been working but i still have no luck getting the hardware trigger.
I'm trying to do it through
EXT_TRG_INPUT, which is an SMA connector on TSW1400EVM?
"High Speed Data Converter Pro GUI" document (slwu087d) on page 16 ("3.1.3.3 Trigger Operation") refer to this input. Having said that i still have no luck getting the hadware trigger to work (using 1.8V pulse).
The sequence that i did was: change Trigger Select to Hardware trigger, click Set, then Setup TSW1400, then TSW1400 ARM, then Trigger Frame, then activate my 1.8V square wave signal (multiple pulse).
Questions: How does changing Trigger Select to Hardware trigger in Radar Studio affect Trigger Option in Data Capture Option in HIgh Speed Data Converter?-which is required to be ticked for hardware triggering as per slwu087d (or do they not talking each other?)-i believe these 2 softwares talk each other when Setup TSW1400 get executed?
    Am i missing anything here?
    Thanks
    Regards
    P.S
i also have a second set of TSW1400EVM, MMWAVE DEVPACK and AWR1642BOOST and planing to connect (using SMA cables) the SYNC1(or 2,3,4) of one to EXT_TRG_INPUT, of the other as illustrated in slwu087d
  • my goal is to repeteadly trigger the system creating some sort of "continuous" radar transmission, while at the same time getting my other set to also capture the signal (the 2nd board will be on RX only mode-acting as a "sniffer")
  • Hi Ucu Maksudi,

Sorry, I don'y know how to solve your question. And I met so many problems too.
Maybe you can post a new message in the forum. It looks like that TI always ignores the resolved issue.

    Thanks,
    Jinjun
  • Hi Jinjun,

I think i'll submit a support request (looked around this forum and found nothing) as we've spent nearly $4,000 worth of hardware on this :-( 2X (TSW1400EVM, AWR1642BOOST,MMWAVE-DEVPACK)

and expect to get some decent support :-). The hardware requirement for trigger is also not 100% clear. The manual above specifies 1.8V, but if you look at the schematics its on the 3V bank of the FPGA.

    Thanks for replying anyway.
