Hi,

we might be able to engage into a use-case where the mmWave radar needs to be powered with small form factor batteries. This is very difficult assuming a rough power consumption of 2W/h as indicated into the data sheet. On the other hand it could be possible to switch on-off the radar on a regular basis.

Have you already addressed this kind of issue? Which kind of suggestions you may have? At which periodicity it would be possible to power cycle the SoC, to halve for instance the power consumption?

Hello Allesandro,

The TIDEP-0091 for Level Sensing application, uses an MSP430 in low power as a Host processor, and controls the switching of the Radar On and Off.

Please review this architecture and ask more questions.

We'll take a look at it. Your feedback is that power consumption can be decreased significantly by duty cycling as in TIDEP-0091. Is it correct?

Yes the duty cycle approach reduces power consumption, but requires the radar to be reprogrammed for each power up.
