LM35: Dual supply

Part Number: LM35

Dear Technical Support Team,

Is it possible to use LM35 with dual supply below?

±12 V is generated by 24V.

Datasheet shows dual supply is possible, but supply voltage (+VS)  is from 4 to 30 V.

So I'd like to confirm below.

                                             ⇒  +12V  ⇒ V+ of LM35

24V ⇒  positive and negative power supply IC

                                             ⇒ -12V    ⇒  V-(GND) of LM35

Best Regards,

ttd

  • Hi ttd,

Yes you will be fine. In your case, the -12V will be the reference point relative to LM35. So LM35 will "see" a 24V supply.
But be careful when connecting the output to the ADC if the ADC negative reference isn't at -12V also. The LM35 will output a voltage relative
    to the -12V reference.
