where to find Ultrasonic transceiver and price

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PGA460-Q1, PGA450-Q1, TDC1000

In flow metering, I saw documents on ultrasonic flow measurement. However they are all on the MSP430FR6792. I cannot find anything on the ultrasonic flow transceiver itself. I can order MSP430FR6792, but where do I obtain ultrasonic transceivers?

  • Hi Graham,
The ultrasonic transceivers are typically sold directly by the manufacturer. In some cases, you are able to place small orders of transceivers through distributors such as Digi-Key, Mouser, Farnell, etc. I have published a listing of air-coupled ultrasonic transducers at: e2e.ti.com/.../620399

The transducers in the link above are intended to be used with the PGA450-Q1 and PGA460-Q1 devices for open-air environments, not a liquid transmission medium. However, many of these manufacturers also make transceivers for flow metering (such as Steminc and Audiowell).

I am looping in my colleague who has more experience with ultrasonic flow metering for additional comment.
  • Hi Graham,

As Akeem said, the transducers are not supplied by TI, but rather by specific transducer manufacturers. For liquid medium applications, this application note includes some good transducer recommendations: www.ti.com/.../snaa266a.pdf

The webench designer on the TDC1000 product page (www.ti.com/.../TDC1000-Q1) also has suggestions for flow applications.

    Regards,
