AWR1642BOOST: EVM Board LED DS3 turns off during the Demo test

Hi ,

I start by saying that the AWR1642 EVM already worked by mmWave Demo Visualizer. I already did some tests in the past but unfortunately something happens last week.

Last week I just powered up the AWR1642 EVB to make some testes but the EVM did not work.

When I push the button on the mmWave Demo Visualizer "send config to mmW device" the data are sending to the sensor but afterwards I am not able to see any plots.

All HW configurations look like well done and COM ports to transmit and receive data are connected indeed I can read "HW is connected".

The only different I see between past tests and now is the different LED glowing before DS4 (NRST) DS2 (5V) and DS3 (NERR_OUT) were turned on instead now DS3 is always turn off, What does it means?

I tried to reboot the device even the tool without any changing.

I also re-done the flashing procedure more time (of course appling the jumper on SO2) but without any results.

Sorry small mistake.
looking at the schematic DS3 is not NERR_OUT but GPIO_2 (yellow light)

Hi Fabrizio,

The DS3 Light is on when the demo is running, is that your only problem here? Often times power-cycling the board can resolve this issue.

I've asked an AWR team member to look at this matter and someone should have a better response for your shortly.

yes,I already tried to power-cycling the board but same results. Indeed ,I thought that the Pin AR_GPIO_2 is not only used like IO pin but even like MSS_uartb_tx and BSS_uart_tx (AWR1642 datasheet)

Below what I measure when I supply the device. Since the vt of the DS3 is 1,8V and I have around 1.5V --> DS3 is turn off.

Hello Fabrizio,
Could you clarify if you have tried reflashing the "xwr16xx_mmw_demo.bin" present in the \packages\ti\demo\xwr16xx\mmw\ folder of the SDK package? If yes did the programming complete successfully?

Hi Vivek,

Indeed that's what Fabrizio did. For some reason, he had to re-flash several times until he could get a stable behavior. Now it seems to be ok. Let's close this issue for now; we will open another one if needed.
