AWR1243BOOST: Device not shown in Radar Studio

Part Number: AWR1243BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1243, UNIFLASH

Hi,

I'm using a AWR1243BOOST EVM alone (without mmwaveDEV pack) and I can't get it connected to Radar Studio 1.9.1.0. I followed all steps in AWR1243 EVM User's Guide, and Radar Studio GUI manual, but the "No. of Devices Detected" is allways 0. Next is an image of Radar Studio logs at loading:

Next is the Radar API tab when trying to use Functional mode:

To start Radar Studio sucessfully I had to copy "ftd2xx.dll" manually from mmwave_dfp_00_09_01_06\rf_eval\ftdi\i386 to mmwave_dfp_00_09_01_06\rf_eval\radarstudio\RunTime. If I don't place this dll there I allways get the Radar Studio startup error message shown in Radar Studio User manual, and it was not fixed by re-installing HSDC Pro.

Looks like I'm able to load FW images to 1243BOOST using UniFlash (both radarss + masterss, and memswap files), so I assume all drivers are successfully installed.

Any hint on how to fix that?

Am I missing some very basic info here? (like a required module missing, like TSW1400 board)

Thanks,

David.

  • Hello David,

You will need the MMWAVE-DEVPACK to configure AWR1243BOOST using the RadarStudio. Without the MMWAVE-DEVPACK, you will not able able to use the RadarStudio on AWR1243BOOST.

The TSW1400EVM will be required to receive/collect the raw ADC data from the AWR1243BOOST over the LVDS interface . Here again you will need the MMWAVE-DEVPACK as the TSW1400EVM connects to the MMWAVE-DEVPACK to receive the data over LVDS lanes.

You can look at our training video on RAW Data Capture using TSW1400EVM for more details on the setup etc.

    Thanks,

    Raghu

  • Thanks Raghu for your kind reply.

I will get the missing modules to start operating with the EVM.

    Best regards,

    David.
