FDC2212: The I2C question for FDC2212

Hi team,

The customer would like to test if the I2C function is fine for FDC2212. He uses the external crystal. The CLKIN pin is input 16MHZ.

Q1: Would you explain how to test if the I2C function is fine? His schematic is in the attach.

Q2: If the customer uses the internal crystal, does only set CLKIN pin to GND?

Hi Mickey,

You could try to write into a register and see if it changes as expected.

And yes, connect CLKIN to GND if you are using an internal oscillator.

Hi Mickey,

You could try to write to registers that are usually set by the user (for example, drive current 0x1E, clock dividers 0x14, offset 0x0C etc.). If the values of these registers change, then you know the I2C is communicating properly. You can refer to the register maps on section 9.6 in the FDC2212 Datasheet to see the acceptable values for each register.

How you set the register would depend on the environment you are using for your MCU. I am not familiar with your MCU to answer that.
