TDC7201 STOP MASK How to use it

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TDC7201-ZAX-EVM

Hi ! Our LiDAR design has a protective cover glass at 2.5cm away from the laser source and 3cm to the photo detector. Could STOP MASK eliminate /ignor pulses reflected back from the surface of a cover glass.  If so, Could you help us understand how to use STOP MASK parameter, and if possible, could you describe this fuction in detail. Or any referencial software? We appreciate very much of you could help us on this. Thank you very much. Ted

  • Hello Ted,

Yes, the STOP MASK will allow you to ignore the unwanted pulses that you describe. The datasheet provides a pretty concise explanation of the STOP MASK function along with an example of its use in section 7.3.3.3 Clock Counter Stop Mask. ()

There is no reference software specifically for this purpose, but the MSP430 firmware source code that is used with the TDC7201-ZAX-EVM is included in the GUI download for the EVM here:

The source code includes examples for basic SPI reads and writes that will be needed to set the registers for the STOP MASK and other configurations.

    Regards,
