AWR1443BOOST: Out of range objects

Part Number: AWR1443BOOST

Hello,

After I tested the out-of-box demo and capture demo, I found that there existed some out of range objects/points sometimes. For example, when I put the sensor towards a wall which is about 2.8 m away, the sensor detects some objects about 5 m and 7 m away. The range fft plot can be seen below. The highest peak indicates the wall, but where do the peaks at 5 m, 6 m, 7 m come from? Sometimes the amplitude of the out of range object can achieve half of the highest peak.

Thanks,

Yun

  • Hi Yun

The objects beyond the wall could be either.

    1. Reflections of reflections. That is the radar signal is bounced off the wall and hits targets behind  and  then returns to the radar.

    2. Objects beyond the wall. If the wall is very thin and the material of the wall is transparent to 77Ghz radiation, then it could be objects behind the wall.

    My guess is 1, though.

    Regards
