AWR1642BOOST: Data display

Part Number: AWR1642BOOST

Hi,

I have AWR1642BOOT demo kit with gui. I Start to analyze data and I have some question. There's no conenction between display data and real data. For example: data return 5 point on GUI you see 3. And if you represent it in X/Y coordonate you will realize that what you see in GUI are not same what data is return. 

I insert Config.txt contain configuration data. MyDataLoadData1.log - raw data from board. 

DisplayData.png is what you see. Look for example to last data:

InfoData1.txt - data parse from raw - look to last data if this are same with DisplayData.png they should work in very strange mathematical system.

    X_Pos = ((X_Ret * 65536) + RangeIdx) / xyzQFormat;

    Same for Y/Z. For me looks very strange. Any way please describe very clear this steps. Your documentation has a lot of missleads. For example how to represent: MMWDEMO_OUTPUT_MSG_RANGE_PROFILE.

    As Raghu mentioned, it appears that you have some objects outside the thresholds of the plot (which are (-5 to 5m in X, and 10m in Y).

    When we decode your captured raw data, the first frame looks like this (see attached txt file for the entire parsed data). As you can see, ObjID 3 and 4 are outside of the plot range and not shown in the plot.


    It appears that you are interpreting the X, Y and Range Profile data incorrectly. The X, Y, Z coordinates and the range profile are sent out in the Q format which is a fixed point number format ( en.wikipedia.org/.../Q_(number_format) ). The number of fractional bits for the X, Y, Z coordinates is specified separately in the xyzQFormat field at the start of the MMWDEMO_OUTPUT_MSG_DETECTED_POINTS TLV, and appears to be 9 for all your raw data.

    This is documented here in the SDK:

    The number of fractional bits for the range profile is 9 for xWR16xx.

    In your case, the xyzQFormat for all detected object data is 9, so to convert the int16_t x/y/z coordinates to metres, you would divide by (2^9).

    I'm using SDK 1.1.0.2 and download from toolbox dss and mss. I succeeded to build dss without any problem (as it is wrote in specification). building mss always failed. I try with CSS 7.2 and 7.4. Looks that your mss example have a problem with post link build. We can't start a project and to buy chips for 800 dollars without having guaranty that code is compliable and working. Please deliver us ASAP a fix or we are in very very strange situation. We will be force to drop down this project and this will cause lost in both parts (you don't sell chip for 100 euro/pcd ~= 1000 per year). I don't sell my product. So we have fun both of us.

    I'm afraid I do not understand what you are blocked on. The thread that you linked to has a last post from August 2017 and refers to a build issue on the previous SDK release. Are you sure this is the one that you are still blocked on?

    Could you please raise a new issue showing the build error you have and the exact build steps and logs? We will make sure you are unblocked immediately.

    To the best of my knowledge, the build instructions from SDK 1.1.0.2 should work correctly, but we can debug starting from your build steps and logs.

    Looking at the logs, I see that there is the "Failed to remove CRC temp file". Is the warning message your only concern, or are you subsequently having some other failure?

    The previous thread you linked to says this warning can be ignored as the temp file removal is not mandatory..

    Why exactly is this issue blocking you?

    The  error "Failed to remove CRC temp file" you get is due to some known issue in the "crc_multicore_image.exe" .We have an action to fix this in our upcoming releases. Thanks for bringing this up again.

    However, the image created has no issues . If you would like to delete this file automatically, you can include the delete command in your "makefile" in "$mmwave_sdk_01_01_00_02\packages\ti\demo\xwr16xx\mmw"

    You can add below line in the makefile.

    @$(DEL) $(MSS_MMW_DEMO_BIN) $(DSS_MMW_DEMO_BIN) crcFile
