AWR1642BOOST: Unifhash Error

Part Number: AWR1642BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH, AWR1642

Dear support team;

I want to write the lab data on AWR1642BOOST.

But, uniflash error occurred.

I specified COM11.

And board setting is following.

Could you tell me about that solution method?

Best Regards,

 Masaaki Sugiyama

  • Hello Masaaki,

    This is a very strange error. Can you confirm this is still happening?

    I would recommend Formating SFLASH in the Settings and Utilities pane and then trying again.

    Have you made any changes to the firmware itself? Have you tried other binaries for AWR1642?

    Cheers,
    Akash
  • Dear Akash-san;

    Thank you for your quick relay.

    I tried  other binaries(xwr16xx_pcount_lab.bin).

    But, the same error occurred.

    The following picture is error message.

    I didn't change and add source code.

    I downloaded the mmwave_industrial_toolbox_2_0_0 and selected the binary files under prebuilt_binaries directories.

    Best Regards,

     Masaaki Sugiyama

  • Hello Sugiyama-san,
    Can you tell the rating of the power supply you are using ?

    Thanks,
    Raghu
  • Dear Raghu-san;

    I measured Jack voltage and this point is about 5.5V.
    Is the measurement point here?

    Best Regards,
    Masaaki Sugiyama
  • Hello Sugiyama-san,

    What is the current rating of the supply?

    -Raghu
  • Raghu-san;

    I am sorry for late reply.

    I measured current and this is 284mA.

    This is same value in case of Uniflash access and power on.

    Best Regards,

     Masaaki Sugiyama

  • Hello Sugiyama-san,

    You will need atleast power supply with current limit of 2.5A- 3A rating for the AWR1642BOOST.

    Thanks,
    Raghu
  • Dear Raghu-san;

    The capability of AC-Adopter is 5A.

    The previous post is real current value.

    By the way, Uni Flash can recognize the AWR1642BOOST.(device auto detected)

    But Uni Flash loading is error.

    Do you think what is reason?

    Best Regards,

     Masaaki Sugiyama

  • Hello Sugiyama-san,
    The power supply is fine. Please do not use the "Auto-detect " feature. There are some known issues with "Auto-detect" feature.
    Can you manually select the device and try to flash?

    -Raghu
  • Dear Raghu-san;

    I tried manually select the device (AWR1642 and AWR1642BOOST).

    But, the same error occurred.

    Could you help me ?

    Best Regards,

     Masaaki Sugiyama

  • Hello Sugiyama-san,

    Did you check on a different machine/PC ?

    -Raghu
  • Dear Raghu-san;

    I am sorry for late reply.

    I confirmed on a different PC.

    But, same error occurred.

    Do I need to update the firmware of on-board MSP430(XDS110)?

    And, if I may try what it is, could you tell me?

    Best Regards,

     Masaaki Sugiyama

  • Hello Sugiyama-san
    The update to XDS110 will happen automatically when you try to connect it from the Code composer Studio.

    If it is not updated you can follow below procedure given in "$CCS_INSTALL_PATH\ccs_base\common\uscif\xds110\ReadMe.txt". The same path also include the firmware update utility for XDS110.

    Thanks,
    -Raghu
  • Dear Raghu-san;

    I updated XDS110 firmware(2.3.0.11).

    But, I have same error.

    If I may try what it is, could you tell me?

    Best Regards,

     Masaaki Sugiyama

  • Dear Raghu-san;

    I checked verify connection by CCS.

    I attached the error message.

    [Start]

    Execute the command:

    %ccs_base%/common/uscif/dbgjtag -f %boarddatafile% -rv -o -S integrity

    Could you advice me?

  • Hello Sugiyama-san

    You don't seem to have run the firmware update command.

    In addition, if it is blank EVM, you need to execute below 2 command :

    Xdsdfu.exe -b boot_loader.bin –r
    Xdsdfu.exe -f firmware.bin –r

    Please run this command and you should be able to update to new firmware.

    -Raghu
  • Dear Raghu-san;

    I tried two Xdsdfu.exe commands.

    But, not chanegd.

    Then, I tried demo of Driver Vital Signs.

    I successed compile and link.

    And, I tried connect EVM to CCS.

    But, the following error occured.

    Could you tell us that how to avoid this error?

    Best Regards,

    Masaaki Sugiyama

  • Hello Sugiyama-san

    When downloading the code via CCS you should have the EVM in SOP4 mode(functional).

    Before this you should have the CCSdebug image flashed onto the EVM .

    Please follow the steps mentioned in the mmwave-sdk-useruide.pdf for flashing of the image to device and running the demo vis CCS.

    Thanks,
    Raghu
  • Dear Raghu-san;

    I am sorry for late replay and thank you for your great support.
    I think that this is hardware issue.
    I will buy the new AWR1642boost.
    I close this thread once.
