IWR1642BOOST: Questions about pplcount (lab0011) demo of iwr1642

 Q1) What is the update rate of output data, Matlab GUI?

AK: 50msec is the data rate(based on the Frame rate  ) from the UART of IWR1642. The update rate of GUI depends on the PC.

(Q2) What is the range resolution?

AK:     4.9 cms.

(Q3) What is the angle resolution?

AK: 15 deg. Since its a MIMO with 8 virtual antennas  with FOV as +/-60 Deg

(Q4) What is the chirp configuration of the demo?

AK: Chirp configuration can be found in the Lab in directory <install_path>/mmwave_industrial_toolbox_2_0_0\labs\lab0011-pplcount\lab0011_pplcount_gui.

(Q5) When running the GUI Matlab code (pcount_demo_gui.m), with Matlab version of 2017b, it seems that the demo gui working is different with the GUI of quickstart (pplcount_demo_gui.exe). Can you check again if the Matlab code (.m) is same as with that of quickstart (.exe)?
Can I know if there is specific toolbox for the Matlab required or not?

AK: The exe provides basic configuration with very few knobs like the scenery parameters around the radar where as the matlab .m file  provides  more features to tune and adjust for the GUI.

(Q6) When a people is lying on the floor, sometimes the count became 2, not 1, and sometimes there was no detected object. How can we understand the result?

AK: The data processing relies on the static clutter removal to differentiate moving objects like people vs static objects like chair etc. Hence when people become very stationary, it assume to be clutter. We are looking at options  to improve this. Also the people laying down might out of the RADAR field of view.    

We do have see the sync error issue with Matlab gui. & working towards a fix. Please make sure that the laptop/PC on which the Matlab is run,   is in High performance mode
