AWR1642: Beamforming method

Hi Experts,

My customer is using AWR1642. Does mmwave SDK have beam forming feature? If so, is it done by FFT?

I read the following thread but not sure about how to realize beam forming:

Are you referring to the beamforming via Tx phase shifter ? If this is what you are referring to then it is not supported in AWR1642.

Thank you for your reply. I was refering to following application note:

In this document, angle estimation (I think it is beam forming) is done by angle-FFT. Is it available in mmwave SDK for AWR1642?

Hi Ken,

Angle estimation in the mmwave SDK is always done by an FFT. You can look at the following lines

2689 : /* 3D-FFT (Azimuth FFT) */
