IWR1642: Physical environment and effects on performance

Part Number: IWR1642

Team,

do we have resources discussing the physical environment with regards to performance?

My customer has the following questions:

  • How much is the signal attenuated by certain plastic materials?
  • Which antenna designs can TI provide?
  • How do the antenna diagrams look?
  • What's the minimum distance at which objects can still be detected and the distance/angle can be estimated correctly?

Thanks!

  • Hi Framziskus,

I can only answer the last two questions right now.

How do the antenna diagrams look?
Antenna illustration and pattern are available in the IWR1642BOOST user guide on page 12.

What's the minimum distance at which objects can still be detected and the distance/angle can be estimated correctly?
Minimum distance for detection is 3 cm using a particular configuration. Please note that not all configurations are valid for a minimum distance of 3 cm.

I'll have answers for the other two in the next few days.

    Cheers,
    Akash
