OPT8241: Noise and range improvement with cooling?

I haven't found any reference to dark or shot current for OPT8241 but I suppose they have it as well.

From my experience with other sensors, cooling with Peltier cells can improve the dynamic range as it decreases noise.

I haven't found any mention of Peltier-cooled ToF sensors, is that something that makes any sense?

Dark current and shot noise both exist in the system. We have customer managing temperature.successfully using thermal electric cooler (usually for higher-power or fully enclosed systems). Check out this video for thermal management recommendation.

I know some spectrometer CCD sensors can be cooled down to -10 or -20 C for low noise and higher dynamic range, could that work in that sense with these kind sensors as well?

That depends on your application. As far as I known, thermal electric cooling can only handle a differential of about 20 deg C between the environment temperature and internal temperature.

By thermally isolating the target system and cascading a number of Peltier cells, higher delta T can be achieved. They do that for some ICs where heatsink + fan is not enough (or not trendy enough).
