Hi all,

Is it possible to disable TX (not the VCO), which I mean there is no chirps sent out, but enable RX and mixer, which I mean the received signals can still be stretched by the TX chirps?

In this situation, there is no chirps sent out, but internally there are chirps generated. And for RX, there are only interferences (and noise) and no echoes from targets, because no chirps sent out. The interferences still can be stretched by the TX chirps.

Then we can perform interferences detection much more easily.

    That is great idea and is easily supported by the AWR devices. All you have to do is create one chirp where nothing is transmitted and
    You can create a frame with one kind of chirp. For that chirp do not enable any Tx. Then, the frame will have the Tx switched off, and only the Rx will be switched on.

    Alternatively, the AWR devices have hooks that allow you to observe silent spaces in the spectra. For e.g. in FMCW radar, targets either have positive frequency (with positive slope) or negative frequency (with negative slope). If you configure the radar in the 'Complex2X' mode, you'd be able t+o observe both the positive and negative frequencies. Spikes in the negative frequency (when using a positive slope chirp) imply interference.

    You can also use the CQ data as a way to see whether interference is affecting the chirp. CQ (or chirp quality) are additional messages that can be send from the device which would allow one to see the energy in the positive and negative frequencies as a function of time. A spike in energy in the negative frequency (in a chirp with positive slope) would indicate the presence of interference.
