TMP432 Remote Sensor pins

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMP432, DXP

I am only using one of the two remotes sensors on a TMP432 and have tied the unused DXP2 and DXN2 pins together as I understand from page 30 of the datasheet.  However, I am having trouble getting the first remote sensor to work properly.  We can read and write registers, but can’t ever see THERM change state. The THERM status bit always appears as zero and the THERM output appears to be low.  Any ideas on what is wrong?  Is shorting together the second unused DXP/N pins incorrect?

  • Brad,

What temperature is being read on channel 1 that is connected to the remote diode?  Are you able to read a valid local temperature?  If you post scope photos of SCL and SDA we can help validate the actual temperature that the TMP432 is reading on the remote diode.

Shorting the inputs together should not be causing this issue.

    Thanks,

    Matt
