AWR1642: Continious wave's phase noise test

Hi,

My customer is testing the phase noise in continuous wave mode. Compare with AWR1642EVM, customer’s own AWR1642 board’s phase noise isn't good enough.

Can you please check with this configuration, is phase noise will be influenced by the configuration?

Also, can you please give some advises that can help to improve the phase noise?

I have attached customer’s configuration and the test result.

Hello Wesley,
I assume both the measurements are done with the same SDK version and configurations. Are you using the latest SDK package : 01_01_00_02 ?

Hello Wesley,
Is the plot taken by using averaging in the spectrum analyzer? I am just thinking if this is actually frequency drift over time rather than phase noise issue. Can they remove the averaging and reduce the sweep time to get more instantaneous plot?
If the PCB heats up the onboard XTAL frequency can drift and hence change the frequency a little.
