LM96511: more LNA needed

Hi I have a question for the LNA.

I want to design a ultrasound scanner using LM 965-- series in page 8 of LM96511 spec sheet

But with my ultrasound transducer, I need more gain on the AFE part.

(the overall gain of LM96511 AFE is ~50dB, I need around 100dB with ~1nV/rtHz)

So Can you tell me the LNA part name or another alternative LNA chip , so I can attech it front of AFE.

Hi Miryeong,

Welcome to TI E2E forum!

The LM96511 is not recommended for new designs.
We would recommend using AFE5808A / AFE5809 in your design.
AFE5808A has an input dynamic range of ~98dB for 10MHz BW and LNA VPP of 1V.

But I have another question,

Is there any LNA with ~1nV/rtHz?

I need independent chip for design.

You can do a parametric search from the TI portfolio of devices to find the LNA that meets your spec.

I am sorry to bother you again and again.
I really want to ask you one last thing.

As you told me, I looked at ARE5808A and it did not get that much gain.

On the 29p of data sheet, I check the overall gain is 54dB maximum.

Can you tell me how can I get a gain of 100dB?

Miryeong,

The LNA has a max gain of 24dB, the VCAT has a gain range of 0 to -40dB, and the PGA has a max gain of 30 dB. If you max each of these then you can achieve the maximum gain range of the device which is 54dB and the range is around 94dB if you incorporate that VCAT can go down -40dB.
