Hi there we are a team of students who have been advised to look to the AWR1642 Boost as a viable radar. We want to be able to do radar occupancy grid mapping remotely on a robot, but we don't know where to start. We are able to get Demo Visualiser and the Sensing Estimator etc to work and install fine, but how do we program the radar to continuously transmit and receive, and send that information back by blue tooth or wifi? We've done such projects before on an Arduino but we don't even know how to export the radar data out of the board, and what do we read it with? Matlab? Python? The documentation is extremely confusing and we can't understand much. Please help us get started!

Please go to Software->mmWave Sensors-> Industrial Toolbox ->Labs-> ROS Point Cloud Visualizer

From the xWR1642 device you will be able to export the point cloud to a Matlab GUI

Hi Cesar. Okay so we created an environment and downloaded the TI package to use in ROS but it basically just shows us the point cloud map. How do we export out that data onto something readable for us to process further into a 3D map or image that isn't just stuck to the ROS' Rviz interface? Like. How do we export that data onto MATLAB and what is this gui? Do we have to create our own GUI?

Hi Samuel,

I believe that the data is coming out of UART and you can just use the Matlab function Serial to establish a connection.
