Hi

I got following message when we started PGA460 GUI.

When we use BOOSTXL - PGA 460 with MSP - EXP 430 F 5529 LP, should we install Code Compose Studio?

We don't need CCS tool now.

Is there way to use this assembled EVM without CCS?

BestRegards

  • na na78,
The first message is not critical and can be ignored. When the GUI is started, it always tries to access TI.com to check if an updated version of the GUI is available. If there is no internet connection, then this message box will appear.

Regarding the failure to program the LaunchPad: You do not need to install Code Composer Studio if the one-time setup file was successfully run to install the required CCS and MSP430 drivers during initial PGA460 GUI installation.
Is your operating system a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows 7? By default, the GUI expects a 64-bit OS. If you are using a 32-bit, you can find a zipped package called "pga460_fw_installer_32bit.zip" in the install directory of the PGA460-Q1 EVM GUI. The default install directory path should be similar to:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\PGA460Q1EVM\PGA460Q1EVM-1.0.1.2"
Unzip the contents into the MyDocuments\BOOSTXL-PGA460 folder, and run the one-time setup to install the LaunchPad drivers, and then use the PGA460 GUI to install the PGA460 firmware.
  • Hi Akeem

    Sorry for late reply.

Our OS is 32bit of windows.
Unfortunately, the problem regarding the failure to program the LaunchPad has not solved even we installed 32-bit version manually as you mentioned. Same failure message comes up.

Can you have additional advice to avoid this error?

    BestRegards
  • Hi na na78,

In the "Documents\BOOSTXL-PGA460\uniflash_windows_64\user_files\images" or 32-bit equivalent directory, you will find the U2A_PGA46x.out file. You can use the online TI UniFlash tool to program the MSP430F5529LP with this .out file :
    dev.ti.com/.../

You will be prompted to download the TI Cloud Agent if it is your first time using UniFlash.
Select the MSP-EXP460F5529LP for configuration purposes.
On the UniFlash page, browse and select the .out file as the Flash Image, then Verify and Load the image to flash program the MSP430.

Refer to PGA460 FAQ #4.1 & 4.2 for details on using UniFlash: www.ti.com/.../slaa733.pdf
