IWR1443BOOST: IWR1443BOOST

Part Number: IWR1443BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR1443, TMDSEMU110-U

Our IWR1443BOOST works perfectly.  Large portions of the mmWave Demo visualizer documentation SWRU529A discuss the Configure tab.  Where is this tab on the Visualizer?   Thanks, Peter

  • Hi Peter,

I'm glad you were able to get it working! The Visualizer you are using is the High Accuracy Visualizer and not the Standard mmWave Visualizer. For your application I'd recommend sticking with the High Accuracy Visualizer and making whatever configuration changes you want to the chirp config.

Let us know what you are trying to config and we can help you do it through the chirp config or otherwise.

    Cheers,
    Akash
  • Hello Peter,
If you scroll up so you can see the mmWave Demo Visualizer red banner. You should have a left "Configure" and a right "Plots" tab.
Your picture shows the plots portion. There are two methods to load the configuration, for testing, you would adjust the parameters
from the configure tab, send the config to mmwave device (bottom left button ). Then scrolling to the top, select plots. Adjust your plot options, when it works take a reference picture AND..... go back to the Configure tab, and Save Config to PC.

The second way to do the loading, goto the Plots tab, depress Load Config from PC and Send. Hopefully you get the outcome expected.

Some customers want the internal XDS110 functionality so the Visualizer can be used for testing. You can also use a footprint for External XDS110, and have a passive interface which is lower power.

  • Ideally, this is what we would like:

IWR1443 "hard coded" so that it sends out the serial packet with the distance in the packet.  Combining the high accuracy software with the 'hard coded' portion of the low power project that Michelle mentioned is challenging.

Slow down the baud rate.  The MSP430FG4619IPZR that we use in all of our products cannot parse data at 921600 (115K is easy).

If this is done, product development would be easy.

Do you know of any consultants that are available to help with this project?

    Thanks, Peter

  • We are trying to look ahead with our hardware design using the high accuracy lab as a starter.  We cannot see data on AR_RS232_TX and RX using a scope with the visualizer on high accuracy.  Does it go into the XDS110 on another port such as SPI or SCI?  The AR_BSS_LOGGER has scope activity so we suspect that is where the visualizer data is going into the XDS110 to the PC.

Where is this CONFIG data go into the IWR1443 for the high accuracy lab ?

We thought that we could see data on AR_RS232TX at 921600 for DATA and AR_RS232RX 115200 for CONFIG.  Are the AR_RS232RXTX ports used at all in the high accuracy lab visualizer.

    .........................

Is the TMDSEMU110-U a good XDS100 device to use for our production board?

You mention tabs to see the CONFIG  page on the Visualizer.  Sorry, but we cannot find it on the red banner (below).  Akash mentioned that we would not see the Config tab with the high accuracy lab project.

    Thanks, Peter

  • Hi Peter,

The CLI command port communication is through AR_RS232_TX and RX. You can try open a tera term and send command line by line, you'll clearly see those lines are toggling.

The Data is sending through AR_MSS_LOGGER pin.

XDS110 used on our BOOST EVM can be as a reference design.

Yes, visualizer of high accuracy only has plots panel.

    Michelle
  • We have made good progress with the high accuracy lab: lowered baud to 115K, hard coded config file, embed [mm] on RS232 pin.

We now want to depopulate the IWR1443BOOST to get familiar with our production board and production programming and debug.  Is this external XDS110  TMDSEMU110-U the best one to use with the IWR1443BOOST (we have emulators for other TI chips) ?

    Thanks, Peter

  • Peter,

As long long as its hardware compatible, other emulators can be used as well. XDS110 used on our EVM is only a reference design.

    Thanks and Regards,
    Michelle
