TDC1000-TDC7200EVM: Trigger Update Frequency

Part Number: TDC1000-TDC7200EVM

Hi,
i have recently downloaded the TDC1000-TDC7200 software and i need some informations about its functioning.
In the SETUP page there is TRIGGER UPDATE FREQ., what does it means?
I suppose that is the frequency with which the pulses are posted...the answer is, can i just send the impulses once and see the distance value?
If i go to TANK LEVEL there is a green button, if i push it how does the device work? The board will send pulses with the TRIGGER UPDATE FREQUENCY? Or it will send just one pulse in order to give me only one value of distance?
Thank you!

  • Hi Luigi,

The trigger update frequency control allows you to set the time between new measurements when running in continuous trigger mode on the GUI. This can be done by selecting the continuous trigger toggle in the TDC1000 page, or by clicking START GRAPH in the graph page.

If you want to send only a single pulse, you can set the START bit on the TDC7200 page in CONFIG1. Another way is by using the TOF_ONE_SHOT page. If the TDC7200 is set up for the timing, click the TDC7200 TOF_ONE_SHOT button, and if the MSP430 is set up for timing, click the MSP430 TOF_ONE_SHOT button. The register values of the TDC7200 or MSP430 will be displayed, but this will not update the graph or tank level pages. The only way to update those displays is with the START GRAPH button which will run continuously.

The green "TANK READY" display on the tank level page is not a button. Clicking on it will do nothing.

  • Thank you very much, i appreciate your help.
Is there any technical guide of the board? I've found only an User's Guide but it doesn't explain all the settings of the GUI.

  • Please see the FAQ which covers many of the common settings.
