Hello,

Can the TDC1000-GASEVM be used with two 1 MHz transducers ? Is there some problem with it's switching frequency at 1.6 MHz ?
I intend to use it as non-intrusive water flow meter for plastic pipes (15-20mm), and currently the TDC1000-7200 EVM does not provide enough excitation voltage for clamp-on usage.

Hi Thibault,

The GASEVM can be used with 1Mhz transducers with no issue. Please note that the bandpass filter on the EVM is designed for use with transducers around 200khz-500khz, so it will need to be modified to work with a 1Mhz transducer.

I am attaching a TINA simulation that shows a 1Mhz filter that can be used with the existing pads on the board: 7558.1MhzFilter.TSC

Thank you for your reply Scott, that answered my question. I have another quick concern about the board. Is it possible to decrease the excitation voltage (30V) in any way? I would like to test and analyse which voltage level is enough for my pipes. Thank you!

Hi Thibault,

The BSTEVM uses a LM2733 boost converter which has a configurable output voltage:

You can swap components to change the output voltage according to the LM2733 datasheet.
