AWR1642BOOST: MMWAVE_DEVPACK not working

Part Number: AWR1642BOOST

I connect a DEVPACK and a AWR1642BOOST together following instructions in swru506. the four AR-DevPack-EVM-012 COM ports are shown in Device Manager. MUX2-to-1 set to FDTI. Open RadarStudio, the DEVPACK is detected by the RadarStudio(FTDI status showing 'connected').  but trying to connect to RS232 using the third AR-DevPack-EVM-012 COM port always fails.

One thing I notice is that the DS1 is half-red. when I do SOP Control, DS1 goes off with the SOR1 LEDs change pattern  for 3s or so and then it would it will go back to the state: SOR1(RED)+SOR1(OFF)+SOR2(RED)+DS1(half RED) [see the attached photo].

Please help!

Best Regards,

Xinsi Lin

  • Hi,

Is this a brand new Devpack? has this been used before?

    Thank you
    Cesar
  • Hi Cesar,

It was used before and was working.

  • Hello Xinsi,

Are you getting an error message when trying to connect? What is the message?

    i am using awr1642boost + DEVPACK

there is 6 COM port shown in the list

so my FTDI driver is ok
i also can't find the reason
  • We provide the requested info a while ago, can someone from TI take a look at them and respond back to us?
  • Hello Xinsi,
Could you follow this steps while working with RadarStudio
    1. Make sure on DevPack jumpers are connected as given in the figure 15 of swru506.pdf.
    2. Check if BoostPack is properly stacked on DevPack.
    3. After SOP-2 setting from RadarStudio while connecting RS232 choose COM port which enumerated as 'XDS110 Class Application/User UART' in device manager (swru506.pdf: section 3.1.3)

Hopefully this will resolve your issue.

    Regards,
    Jitendra
  • Hello Xinsi,
In your note above I see that you are using the 3rd COM port from the FTDI. This is not the correct COM port to select, the correct one is the COM port number that is enumerated with the name 'XDS110 Class Application/User UART' in the device manager.
Refer to the radar studio user guide which is part of the DFP package (\mmwave_dfp_01_00_00_01\rf_eval\docs\) for the step by step procedure to connect radar studio in the Dev Pack + Radar EVM setup.
